success. A more detailed description for the evening appears on the back of this page.
Make your tax deductible contributions to MPAC Foundation
And memo for “Tent of Abraham” for donation to the needy in our
community thru the Food Pantry and Vive LaCasa.

“The Tent of Abraham”
MPAC-WNY initiated the “Tent of Abraham” in 2006 to share the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan (Month
of Fasting) with our WNY community. We share the spirit and the objectives of the event by collecting nonperishable
food items and cash donations for distribution to the needy in our community through the Food
Pantry of Western New York and the Viva LaCasa. Tax deductible donations may be made to MPAC
Foundation and memo for “Tent of Abraham”. We also “break the fast” with the community with traditional
dinner, provided by MPAC-WNY, as a token of our appreciation and friendship to the WNY religious and faith
communities. A slide show depicting the Ramadan around the World is a part of the evening festivities.
MPAC-WNY is also pleased to announce the third annual “Walk of Abraham” as a part of “The Tent of
Abraham” event in partnership with our Christian, Jewish and friends of all faiths. We hope to re-imagine a
pilgrimage that can inspire us to experience the spirit and the traditions of Abraham, such as the values of faith,
hospitality and mutual respect. And a reminder to us all that what unites us is far greater than that divides us.

“Tent of Abraham” Adds “Walk of Abraham”
MPAC-WNY in partnership with the Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier, Network of Religious Communities,
North Presbyterian Church, Temple Beth Am and Westminster Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a one mile,
four mile and a five mile solidarity walk that will take place in conjunction with its Sixth Annual Tent of
Abraham event. The Walk of Abraham was stimulated by the Abraham Path Initiative developed by the Global
Negotiation Initiative at Harvard University. “The Walk of Abraham” is taking place in various U.S. and
European cities including right here in Western New York. The 5 mile walk will start at North Presbyterian
Church located at 300 N. Forest Rd. in Williamsville, include a stop at Temple Beth Am ( where the 4 mile walk
will begin) and Heim School (where a shorter 1 mile walk will begin). The walk will finish at the Muslim
Community Center (Islamic Center, 745 Heim Road, Amherst) where walkers will join the “Tent of Abraham”
event with dinner.

The Amherst Police will escort and assist the walkers throughout their walk especially at traffic intersections
and where sidewalks do not exist.
Transportation will be available, free of charge, after the Tent of Abraham dinner for participants to pick up
their cars from Heim School, Temple Beth Am, and North Presbyterian Church. Transportation will also be
